Collection: Shell Oil Signs
Shell Oil Company traces its roots back to 1833 when Marcus Samuel opened a small shop in London selling seashells — which is how the company got its iconic name. By the late 1800s, his sons expanded into the kerosene trade, and in 1907 the family business merged with Royal Dutch Petroleum to form Royal Dutch Shell, one of the largest oil companies in the world. Shell became a pioneer in the global petroleum industry, operating across exploration, refining, and retail on nearly every continent. Its bold red and yellow scallop shell logo — introduced in 1904 and refined over the decades — became one of the most recognized brand symbols in history. Today, Shell remains one of the world's largest energy companies, with a growing focus on renewable energy and the transition to a lower-carbon future.
